Professor CHEN Weixing was born in Chengdu of Sichuan Province in Southwest China. As a member of the so-called educated-youth, he once worked in rural areas of Gansu Province in Northwest China for 4 years. In 1982, he graduated with a BA degree from History Department of Central China Normal University, and then entered Photography Department of Beijing Film Academy for further postgraduate study. He got his doctor degree in University Stendhal (Grenoble 3) and worked as chief editor of Europe-Chine magazine during his 8-year overseas life in France from 1988 to 1996.
After he returned to China, Professor CHEN once served for the Journalism Department of Jinan University in Guangdong Province, and was transferred to Beijing Broadcasting Institute in 2000. He was invited by UNESCO in 2005 to serve as a visiting Professor in Europe. Professor CHEN now is Director of Center for International Communication Studies, PhD student supervisor, and Researcher of several academic institutions including Asia Media Research Centre, National Center for Radio & Television studies, etc.
